MLE - BE SMART DECISION MAKERS

Throughout the next 4-5 months we will be writing a weekly blog about preparing for the mountains. Our goal is to provide you with the most amazing experience on the mountains. It will all start with your preparation. This blog will be how we help prepare you for the best experience of your life.

Please keep in mind that we take teams, individuals, and businesses up mountains where ropes are not needed. We will not pretend to know nor will we give adequate face climbing techniques here. We will simply help prepare you for success getting to the top, enjoying the view, and able to tell the story when you get to the bottom.

Before you head out on your trip, it will be important to know what kind of skills and experiences people already have as well as how the team will make decisions. Knowing the strengths within the group as to who might have more first-aid training, situational awareness, or map readiness will be crucial so that the leadership can be handed to the appropriate person at the appropriate time. Below is how we make S.M.A.R.T. Decisions.

STRUCTURE- Know whether or not it is a group of friends or an organized trip with identified leaders.
MOTIVATIONS - How committed are the members of the group? Do they want to be involved or would they want someone else to decide?

ABILITIES - What is the skill and ability level of each group member? What is their ability to make an important decision? Do they have knowledge and/or expertise?

RISK - Know what the potential consequences of the decisions. Is there a threat for injury?

TIME - Do you need to decide now, where do you go, how much time do you have?

These are how we make our decisions as a team within the MLE. The safety of our team and everyone who travels with us is our number one priority. Have questions? Ask. We are excited about getting our MLE rocking this summer.

Let’s get moving to new heights. See you next week! God Bless
