3 Practices I Learned from the Mountain Leadership Experience

As some of you know, we spent last week in the mountains of Colorado. We stayed in Fairplay, which was a little different than our home of the past 6 years of Buena Vista. We were able to take members through Mountain Leadership Experience. We had a BLAST. We had leaders from Texas, Missouri, Washington, and Indiana. Our 17 members didn’t just learn and grow, but they pushed past what they thought was possible.

Here are 3 practices I learned from the other members. I hope you enjoy and take some time to see if one of these practices would be worth trying for you and your situation.

1️⃣ Make Decisions that Add Kindle to Your Burn. Those that don’t challenge or inspire you are water to your burn. Life is too short to worry about those that take away the oxygen to your fire. Life is too amazing and certainly beautiful (pictures coming) to sit around watching others pursue their passions while sit on your butt.

2️⃣ Add Up the Cost for NOT standing Up for Your Boundaries. Take time to think about what exactly would happen to you if you conceded your values and truth. How would your body react? Where would you literally feel it? Your body will not lie to you!

3️⃣ Let Go of the Rope. Assume the rope is the collection of behaviors that are preventing you from making the progress of being your best self. Behaviors that stop you from acting like yourself or the person you want to be need to be let go. If these behaviors are your rope, it is time to let go! A great question from my friend Scott Ginsberg says “what are you currently doing that makes no sense at all?
