What are you experiencing?

Today is an amazing day. It is November 20, 2020. 2020 has been a year of experience. What have you been able to experience during this pandemic? Maybe you experienced the loss of a loved one, the birth of a loved one, new found love for a friend or significant other, or maybe you realized those hugs you got from Uncle Jason weren’t all that bad.

It is very important for us to calculate what it is we are experiencing. This is crucial as we develop at the personal level, professional level, career level, or even at the social level. Below are great questions that might be worth asking as a leader, spouse, parent, or friend. Try being specific in which category these questions go into. We hope they help you, your business, or your family/friends.

Are there any patterns to what you’re experiencing (or learning) that might be similar to something else you’re working on or going through? If you can look for similarities in your experiences, you might be able to better solve creative problems.

Is there anything surprising about what you are experiencing? Surprises can elicit curiosity. Curiosity can elicit questioning. Questioning can lead to ideas for innovation.

What do you like about what you’re experiencing? Why do you like it? When joy is experienced, the level of involvement and effort increase. The sense of ownership and pride in work elevate. This pride can impact and filter through other parts of your life as well.

What do you dislike about what you’re experiencing? When you experience something you don’t like, you can begin to get curious and questions whether or not it has to be that way. Using the negative thinking, you can better prepare yourself for better possible outcomes.
