3 THINGS TO CONNECTING DEEPER

We are all looking for ways to develop our leadership skills in hopes that we not only improve but that we connect on a much deeper level. Here are 3 things worth thinking about as you work to connect with your team, staff, managers, or even family.

Regardless of what others say, you are actually here to make friends.

-If you are a coach, you aren’t in it to strictly win, but to develop the skills of your team so they are successful AFTER they leave you. If you are in business, having the skill of making friends opens you to possibilities in other avenues that will help you be successful.

Arguing does not resolve conflict- it only hardens the opinions.

-Arguing usually concludes both sides getting upset and frustrated. When sensing an argument, allow for the other person to be heard. Ask, “how did that make you feel?” Try your best to get to the root instead of reacting to comments out of self-defense. LISTEN & then LEARN.

Taking blame is a lot smarter than blaming others.

-This is a must in leadership. If you blame others, you are hurting your ability to connect with them. Maybe they didn’t get the resources needed from you. Maybe, you didn’t coach them up or prepare them for possibilities. Take the blame, learn where the disconnect was, then make necessary approach to fix it.
