C/D/E & Developing Talent

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to get specific, it’s time to get real. It is time that we begin focusing on what really matters. Whether it is in business, education, or coaching, the most important thing might just be TALENT DEVELOPMENT.

Talent development could be looked at as the core of your organization. It is not retention. The focus isn’t on retaining them, but on developing them into being the absolute best at what you hired them to do. There needs to be a focus on providing the resources and also a process that might better improve their growth.

Here are 3 things to look at in terms of developing their talent.

Communication- There is intentional and unintentional, verbal and non-verbal. What we are communicating to our team is often not what we are saying to them. Are you listening to them? Can you relay the information they are communicating to you? Communication at the highest level is more important than your best achiever.

Decision Making- What are the processes in which your team makes the decisions? Have you trained them and helped prepare them for hurdles, smooth transitions, and ability to make difficult decisions? If they don’t know what decision to make, is it their fault?

Execution- What does the technique look like in their execution? Is there a better way to execute? Don’t teach players how to pass the ball. Teach them how to get the ball from point A to point B. There is a big difference. Too often we fail to remember that the execution was the part that lacked and not the decision. Once we become aware, we can increase the skills needed within the execution.

God Bless!
