Leaders inspire in so many ways! Whether it’s a pastor, a CEO, a teacher, a coach, or even a low-level manger, we all have the ability to inspire those we are meant to reach. Yesterday, we learned what inspires me about my dear friend and mentor Ben Newman. We talked about his unique ability to utilize his gifts so that others could benefit from those very gifts.
We are flipping the script today. We are learning about inspiration and leadership from my friend and colleague in the development world, Luke Cooper aka @LukeCooperHD. He is hands down one of the most creative and funny people I know. He is genuine, authentic, and is super passionate about sharing his gifts amongst the basketball 🌎 This however is not the part of leadership that INSPIRES me about Luke…
Luke doesn’t strive to do anything special. What his gift is that inspires me is that he doesn’t do NORMAL. He is a rule breaker when it comes to the standard. Early on in his development as a coach, he would try things out and ask for forgiveness later. That might make some leaders or managers mad or frustrated, but what it does in the long run is build massive amounts of CREATIVITY. It is because of all those times that Luke has been able to blossom into one of the best NBA skills coaches in such a short time.
A great question to ask yourself if you want to increase your creativity is to say “what might I try in this situation that will be completely opposite of everyone else?”
Be inspiring like Luke and challenge the current state! Thanks Luke for inspiring me!
