Some of the wisest words of wisdom I have received lately has been to “ask, don’t tell.” It was then and there that I became intent on the power of that phrase.
The next time you meet someone, regardless of who or what the situation may be, see how you long you might go without talking. Don’t try to finish their sentence as a way to show you are listening or engaged. Start with some questions and let them take the reins, and sit back with your ears open.
Another great idea would be to “participate in the conversation, but don’t dominate it.”
Take advantage of something most people aren’t willing to do in order to stand out. LISTEN!
